WAITARA. There was a good attendance at the progressive euc-hre party given by the Ivy Assembly on Tuesday last. Some twenty tables were occupied, the prizes falling to Miss Fisher (a silver-mounted belt) and Mrs. B. Clmppell (a handpainted tray presented by .Messrs. Sampson and Hellier). Mr. N. Sampson was the fortunate winner of the gentlemen's first prize (an umbrella) and Mr. Beckbessinger the second (a pocket-book). A dance brought the very pleasant evening to a close. 'The steamers Wakanui and ftaikoura are due this month. The registrar of births, deaths and marriages has supplied the following statistics for the quarter ending June 30th:—Births 30, deaths 2, notices of marriage. 12, marriages by registrar 1. At the football match on Thursday afternoon, the people present had an opportunity to record their opinions as to the first junior player considered most worthy of being awarded Mr. ' Lake's trophy. The result will be made known next Thursday, when a vote will also be taken for the best senior and seconds junior player. The general opinion is that Bond will be the fortunate man. A smoke concert is to be held in the Foresters' Hall on Monday evening to celebrate the first anniversary of the Clifton Lodge of Druids.
