New Plymouth East effected a surprise yesterday by defeating Inglewood A by 4 points to nil »u One racecourse. New Plymouth attacked from the start, and in a' few minutes Summer netted the first fof to n. Ingle wood were kept busy defending for some time, besides the fact that East were concede I three or four corner hits. Breaking away from one of these hits they put Avery on his defence, but he was equal to the emergency. Give and take play followed for some time. From a hot centre Dives found the net by a wellplaced hit. A few minutes later, and just before half-time, Pott increased the score again. The second spell .wis principally in East's favor, Nixon giving the finishing touch of the fourth goal. Mr. Goldwater carried the whistle. Whakatika defeated Stratford yesterday, at Stratford, by 5 goals to 3.
