RAILWAY MEN'S APPEAL.
APPEAL BOARD'S RECOMMENDATIONS DISALLOWED.
By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. A number of appeals by railway men to the North Island Railway Appeal Board have been dealt with by the Minister for Railways. Thomas Edward l-lutching!>, train examiner at Woodville, and H. J. Scaton, train examiner at Cross Creek, appealed against their roduction from grade 1 to grade 2 in consequence of the general revision Of the classification list following the Act of 1907. These appeals, though favorably reported on by the Board, were disallowed by the Minister. James McOurlt, engine-driver, anil J. A. Skelton, shunter, appealed against their dismissal owing to a collision between a shuntirg engine and a mail train ot Marton. These appeal were disallowed. The Board had suggested a reduction of the penalty in McGurk's case. The appeal by H. J. Donovan, 'boilermakcr at Wanganui, against the withholding of sixpence increment provided by the Classification Act, was upheld.
