SUICIDE OF AN OLD COLONIST. By Telegraph—Press Association. Masterton, Friday. An old colonist named Brown Hunt was found dead at his residence, Opaki, this morning with a revolver wound in his head and the weapons in' his hand. He lived alone and is believed to have .had considerable means. Deceased was 7(i years of age. No cause is assigned for the act. He has probably ibeen dead since Wednesday.

ATTEMPTED SUICIDE. Nelson, Last Night. A man named Aldridge attempted suicide at Mann to-day by cutting his throat. He lies in a serious condition in the Nelson Hospital. He had been despondent lately. A MINER DROWNED. Dunedin, Last Night. Andrew Wilson, miner, aged 40, was drowned in the Waipori Rover, near the township, tliis morning. Deceased 'had been drinking. His body has been recovered. SUDDEN DEATH. Invercargill. Last Night. Staff Sergeant-Major Taylor, of the Otago military district for the la3t three years, died suddenly this evening while reading a newspaper at his home. The cause of death is supposed to be heart failure. Sergt.-Major Taylor came from Scotland to Otago about nine or ten years ago. He Was 40 years'of age.
