The report irom the Old People's Home, submitted by Mr. A. E. Jackson, assistant (in th e absence of the matr i.i on leavcj, staled that one ma.e had been admitted during the month, and one had left. Discipline had been good, and general health fairly good, 'there were now 28 males and 5 females' at the liomc. .Miss McLean, the inspector, had visited the institution on the 3rd inst. MEDICAL RETORT.

The Medical Superintendent (Dr. Leathnml reported that during the month there had been 41 patients admitted to the hospital, and 33 were discharged. There were three deaths. There were nonv 47 patients in the hospital. During the month 30 operations had been performed. The past four weeks had been very busy surgically. The women's ward had been crowded to its utmost capacity. In referring to the crowded state of the women's ward, the chairman said • that Dr. Valintine had promised to inspect the hospital at the earliest opportunity. DISTRICT NURSE SCHEME.

.Mrs. (ieorge I'ott, of "Onanui" Uruti, has banked the £SO collected from the settlers in that district as their contribution to the salary of the district nurse to be stationed there.—Dr. Valin--tine wrote that he was endeavoring to obtain the services of a nurse, but would not send one until he w*as sure he had the right one,

GENERAL. The Treasury forwarded £4BO 18s lid, being £295 14s 4d subsidy on general revenue and £194 4s 7d subsidy at 24s in the pound on £l6l 17s 2d of voluntary contributions. The name of Miss Beatrice Adelaide Freeman, of Stratford, was placed on the list of probationers. The Board carefully perused the .list of those owing hospital accounts, and the secretary was given 'instructions t° take all necessary steps to collect the amounts.

Accounts as presented were passed for payment: Hospital, £434 lis 6d; charitable aid, £584 18s 4d.
