Tlie Rev. .Tolin Xixon, of New Plymouth, who has -been in charge of the Presbyterian Church at Brooklvn for the past two months, has terminated his engagement, and was to have left for Cliristehureh last week. There is a persistent belief that Lord Charles Beresford will ibe disposed of by being oll'ered the (iovern'orship of one of the self-governing dominions. Asked as to the accuracy of these reports the other day, lie said with a smile: "There is nothing more probable. Seeing that m.v career so far lias been entirely a liaval one. it is' just the sorl »f thing thai would occur to the authorities—to put wo in some place where a ship is never seen or heard of."
