YOUTHFUL HOUSEBREAKERS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, 1-ast Two lads. Dale (aged Hi) broke into Kiddey's bicycle slioji this morning. They wore observed and the police informed. The lads escaped from the shop 011 to the roof of adjioinmg premises, and took refuse in a large hay loft, where they were discovered after au hour's search and arrested.
iRE-LAUNCHINO Till! TAVIUXI. Westport, Saturday. The stranded steamer Taviuni has been lifted 13ft aft and lift forward. A cradle is now to bo constructed to drag the vessel to the breakwater, through which a cutting will be made and the steamer launched into the river. As so much of the necessary work lias been done, a large number of men have been paid oIT.
SCARCITY OF EMPLOYMENT. Westport, Saturday. Evidence of the s'carcitv of employment in the Dominion is supplied by the fact that over forty applications have been received from all parts for the position of caretaker of the Westport Club, at a salary of £BO a year.
