The deputation advocated a tax upon gotten instead of ungoUci minerals, objecting to the complicated and irritating • vstcm of taxing undeveloped land, claiming that there was no country in •he world where there was a land tas on double and variable assessment. Numerous Liberal and Labor Commoners have memorialised Mr. Asquith in favor of the proposed land taxes. _ Mr. Lloyd-George promised that important concessions affecting the incement on lands of universities aad colleges would be made.
