CENTRAL SCHOOL v. WAITAIU SCHOOL. ihc above teams mvt at Waitara on Saturday and played a hard-fought game, resulting in a draw, neither side scoring. Waitara won the toss and Central kicked off with a slight breeze against them. After a few minutes' play Waitara led the ball into Central's 25, where Oliver, after a good ran, took a pot, but it went wide, Central forcing. Good dribbing ruslics by Monk and Howson, and good kicking by the Waitara Jiacks, kept play in mid-field, and the first spell ended without scow. The second spell opened with more vigor, and Central swept down to Waitara's , 25. The amber and blues were giving the Clifton boys a hot time, keeping them on the defence nearly throughout the spell, but without being able to score. The best of tiie Central team were Bruce, Snowball, Eliott and Chong. Mr. Crowley controlled the game. I
SATURDAY COMPETITIOXS. The second round of Hie Saturday competition was commenced on Saturday. CIVIL SERVICE .v. GUARDS. This match was played 071 the Recreation Grounds and ended in. a draw, each side scoring three ipomts'. Olutirds had easily the beet of the first half, and kept .play repeatedly on the Service goal-line. They drew first blood. The second spell saw the Service taking a turn at attadt, and although they kept Guards penned on the line they failed to cross over. Their only score was .a penaJty goal kicked by Loveridifc.
