HOMING NEWS.

THE NEW PLYMOUTH CLUB. The annual meeting of the New Plymouth Homing Pigeon Club was held at the club rooms on Wednesday evening. There was a full attendance of members. Mr. U-. A. Corney (president) occupied the chair. The annual report was presented bv the secretary (Mr. V. H. Real). it stated that the past year hud been the most successful since the club's inception, both financially and also from a racing standpoint. Thirty-three races had been flown during the past season, compared with 28 of last year. Seven races had been flown on the north route, with a total of 1123 miles, and 20 on the south route, with a total of 3100 miles, making a total of 428!) miles flown for the season compared with 3543 miles last seuson. A fresh record had been established during the year, the race from Tininru being the longest distance yet accomplishea. Tne race from Russell on the north route was also down in good time. One extra event had been added to tlic programme, this being an interval race I from Auckland for the Hugger trophy. The race was won by Jlr. G. A. Corney. The champion cup for old birds was won by Mr. E. Ward from Petone, the Derby Cup by Mr. V. H. Veal from Marton, Oaks Cup by Mr. 11. Moverley from Marton, and the young birds' champion cup by Mr. B. Bayly from Wanganui. The aggregate trophy for most points scored for the season was won by Mr. V. 11. Real. During the year the club had purchased a new "interval box," which was in good order for the coming season. The club was in a sound financial position, the balance sheet showing a very satisfactory credit which would provide handsome prizes for the long-distance :aeos next season. In conclusion, the secretary tendered his thanks to the members for the support accorded during the year, and expressed the hope that next year Dunedin would be successfully flown by the old birds. The balance sheet showed total receipts amounting to £52 0s lid, and expenditure £3O 18s sd, leaving a credit balance of £.15 2s id. The report and balance sheet were adopted.

The prizes gained by the members wer e presented, and the secretary was voted an honorarium of £3 3s. Members referred in complimentary terms to the admirable manner iu which Mr ileal always carried out his duties.

The. election of officers resulted as follows:—President, Mr. G. A. Corney; vice-presidents, Messrs T. Francis, H. J. Gilbert, and J. Htagpoolc; secretary, Mr. V. 11. Real; treasurer, Mr. O. A. Corney; judge, Mr. K Ward; trustees, Mr. T. Francis and the secretary.
