BUTCHERS' AWARD. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. , The Commissioner for Conciliation (Mr. P. llnllv) has forwarded to Mr. A. Stubfe (Clerk of Awards) a. copy of the agreement signed by the parties connected with the butchering at AVanganui for embodiment in the terms of the award by the Court. Tho agreement afreets eleven firing of employers. It provides for t'lie hours o,f labor being 50 per week, to cease not later 10 p.m. every Saturday, except in the ease of ponk butchers, when work shall cease at 10.30 p.m. Every employer is to fix a schedule of hours for his employees', which shaJl be submitted for the approval of the Cuiou. The minimum rate of wage is to be—First shopman £3 per week, second £2 10s. first smallgoods man £2 10s, ha.wking carters £2 ids (id, general hands £2 10s'. Ord.>r cartel's, with a year's agreement, £:■_ per week, second" £2 -Is, third year £2 10s, casual hands its fid per day, Saturday only lis; boys under sixteen 17s 0.1, seventeen and under eighteen £1 2s (id, eighteen and under nineteen £1 ss, nineteen mid under twenty £1 7s (Id, twenty and under fweiil.v-oiie £l uis, over twenty-one £1 12s Gd. Provision is made for undcr-rato workmen. The proportion of boys to men employed is , not to exceed one boy to every three men or .fraction' of three men. AH employees who are married men, other than -those engaged in a pork butcher's business, shall be. allowed meal to an amount not exceeding m per week. The award is to remain in force for two years.
