At a meeting of the management committee of the New Zealand Rugby Union to-night, the secretary said he 'had received a telegram from the AA r est Coast Union asking if F. Jackson, a. niembfr of the Anglo-Welsh team, which loured the Dominion last year, was eligible, to act as a raferee in a. mat* next" Saturday. After consultation with the chairman, lie had replied that there wa.s certain evidence that Jackson was under suspension l>y the English Union, and It would be inadvisable to allow him to act.
Considerable, discussion took place, some members urging that this Union had no official information, of Jackson's suspension !>y the English Union. It was' decided to reply to an enquiry from the Canterbury Union that the Auckland Union had no power to alter any laws of the game.
