The. grain grown this season and carried over the railways in Canterbury from Fcbruavv Ist VoMav 31st totalled 1,570,000 sacks', as against 850,000 sacks for the same period of last year, the liK-rease being 720,000 sacks. " The figures quoted do not include, for either year the grain carried from the stores at Tiinaru to the ships at Timaru, nor the grain from the stores at Addington end ChriKtchureh to the ships at LyHelton. There are large quantities of grain still in the. conn-try districts awaiting carriage over the railways.
