The executive of the New Zealand Alliance to-day revolved—That this meeting enters a strong protest against the granting ofi wholesale licenses for t'be sale of liquor in the King Country. It regards such action as a gross violation of the compact made by the Government with the Maori chiefs of the Kin* Country, namely, that the sale, of liquor should .be prohibited throughout tie district. As these licenses'were granted on the deliberative and casting vote of the presiding magistrate against the majority of elected members, this executive resolves to bring the matter under the notice of the Attorney-General, as it IS cleany a breach of the spirit aid intion 011 Government Proclama-.
