A meeting of. the Elthain branch of the National Defence League last night unanimously passed a resolution favoring the introduction of the system of "universal military training. Feilding, June a. The Hon. McXab had a large and enthusiastic meeting here last night on the occasion of his lecture on universal training. His address was on lines similar to those elsewhere. At the conclusion a motion was carried in favor of adopting universal traiuing. A meeting oi the Feilding blanch of the National Defence League was afterwards held, lit passed a motion asking the Government to introduce the system of universal military training of young men. Palmerston X., Last Night. A Staff ride, comprising all the officers of the mounted forces in the Wellington district, was held here to-day, under the direction of Colonel Bauchope and M„jor Mac-Donald, between 30 and 40 taking part.. A plan of campaign was discussed at a meeting held last evening, after which a social evening was spirit. The. surmise was that a " blue" force of 1500 had landed at Foxton and was advancing on Palmerston, while a " red - force was opposing the raiders. Thei operations were on Fitzherbert Hills, and occupied all day.
