The late Jlr. Henderson was a journalist and theatrical (Manager, who wan! torn in Edinburgh. Scotland, in 1853. lie [began newspaper work in Scotland on the Courant, founded in Edinburgh by Daniel De Foe. In 1871 'lie 'went to Amerflca and Hiibsequently filled the chair of news editor on the SeoUiwh American. New York. He was on the staff of the New York Herald in 1875; foreign correspondent for the Chicago Tribune. In 1883 lie edited the Chicago Daily Xi'wis, and in tihe following year built' the Chicago Opera House, the lirst steel-consitructcd, ,lire-|iroof, elec-tric-lighted theatre in America
