CONCILIATION COUNCIL.

When the Conciliation Council resumed yesterday afternoon in the Cornell Chambers, Mr Grosvenor, representing the employers in the dispute between the Auckland 'Slaughtermen's Union mid the Waitant and Patca freezing works proprietaries, applied for an adjournment till Monday next at 3 pan. He assured the Council that there was every hope that by that time th.' parties would be able to report that all differences had been settled satisfactor fly.

Mr Bust, representing the workers, supported the application. Both parties were very sanguine as to the result of the negotiations which were now going on, but it wouiu'be impolitic to announce details at present. The Commissioner pointed out to the assessors that these delays were very expensive to the country, but in this case he was in favour of acceding to the request. The assessors unanimously granted the application. The Commissioner said he would like to take this opportunity of publicly expressing his appreciation of the tactful and earnest work of Messrs Grosvenor and Bust, who were endeavonrag to settle this dispute in uie way labor disputes should be settled. Mr. F. C. Bellringcr, one of the assessors, wanted to know if there was likely ito be any further adjournment. He hoped the'.parties would come lo some dctinite understanding by Monday. The representatives assured the Conn til that on Monday they would definitely announce whether or not they had come to terms, and if they were unfortunate enough still to have difference,?, then the matter would have to go on to the Arbitration Court. The Council then aolourned.
