How many people who saw Duke of Spavta win the Lincoln Handicap are aware/ that the horse is owned by a man who is totally blind—Mr. A. C. Mandarafi, who has'amassed a fortune in tobacco plantations? It is only within the last two or three years that he has become quite blind, and it was a. pathetic sight to watch him on the stand in the members' enclosure, with his secretary, straining his ears' to listen to tho voices of the crowd, which would tell him whether his liovsc had won or lost.
