TRAIN DERAILED.
FORTUNATE ESCAPES. By Telegraph.— Press Association. Invercargill. Last Night. The down train from Luinsdeii to Invarcargill this evening ran into a bull on this side of Lady Barkley, and the engine and nine trucks were derailed, the engine being turned completely over. The driver was thrown clear, but was s'tunucd v for some minutes through contact with a fence. Tim fireman was pinned down under the debris by bis arm and back, but both officials escaped with, no mora than severe bruises. The accident was mailc known to tlic passengers by violent bumping, but nobody was hurt, and the damage was confined to the rolling stock, permanent way, freight and the bull The faet that grain freights arc heavy just now was probably the reason why the accident was not much more serious, as there 1 were in the train an exceptional number I of grain trucks ahead of the carriages.
