AN ARCTIC POSTMASTER.
LIEUTENANT SJ-lACKLEIUVS POSTAL REPORT. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wcili\\ston, Tinirsday. Lieutenant Shackloton, jn his capacity of postmaster, has addressed a. report to the Postmaster-Onfrral. He says that tiie Jir*t Jitnij taken duwji contained some HOI) letters addressed to non-existent persons, simply for the purpose of getting them returned. They were addressed to albatrosses, penguins, seals, John Frost, Mr. hebep, and *»> on. Lieutenant Shaekleton, with dry humor, reported that the letters wr the penguins were duly delivered, to the surprise of these interesting birds. • Their method of disposing of their correspondence I did not follow, '* said 1 Lieutenant Shaekleton. "The seals al*'> received their letters. The letters addressed to the iceberg* and so forth! were also delivered."
