PENGUIN DISASTER RELIEF

* At a meeting of tie general committee' in connection with the Penguin relief fund, this morning, {he sub-com-mittee's report stated that the sub-com-mittee had' made enquiries and found eighty-nine cases affected by the disaster. Thev had given relief in forty-iour cases', to the extent of £5Bl. The total contributions to date to the fund amounted to £1855. The committee did not consider a special canvass for further funds necessary, as the amount promised and the amount in hand would meet all the requirements. The subcommittee was empowered to act on the lines already adopted.
