ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
<* C BoV'S TIiILNU EXPERIENCE." I'y Telegraph,-Press Association, Clirisleliurch, Last Niglit. V. Uerti, son of the licensee oi Hi' Walllmm Arms, had a very narrow escape from death yesterday. With ins uncle, lluunseii, he had gone snooting on the lulls above tile artillery barracks at Lyttellon, and in the course ol i the afternoon they iiecame separated. They had arranged to meet at a certain point if they became separated, .but Houiisell, atter waiting a considerable time and the boy not putting in an appearance, concluded lie had gone to Lyttelton. On reaching home, however, he found that the boy had not returned, so he went oil' to Lyttelton aim organised a search party, which scoured the hills almost all- night fruitlessly. Another party set out at six this morning, and about 7.30 the boy was found lying head downhill between two rocks, lie wus conscious, but almost frozen, and must have fallen over a rocky dill about 150 feet in Height. He had a miraculous escape from being killed, lie 'was taken to the casualty ward at Lyttelton, where it was found wilt no bines were broken. Good hopes are entertained of his recovery after Una terrible experience.
STEVEDORE INJURED. Gisbonie, Tuesday. A second accident occurred aboard tho Tyser steamer Mimiro this morning, a stevedore named Joseph Hay getting his leg broken whilst loading wool.
