Mr Geoffrey Nye, who has been in town for tin; past few day*, making all arrangements for West's Pictures' next visit, lias not allowed his. energetic spirit to lie dormant, anil although the aetual .preliminary advertising is just commencing, yet quite a number of people know that West'* season will commence on the yist inst. Mr. Nye has arranged with his management to give tile proceeds of one evening's entertaiiimv-.it to the Recreation Sports Ground Committee, to provide funds for tlie erection of a new dressing shed. The committee had gladly accepted this generous offer, and will energetically assist in making it .big success of this benefit performance, which should be an easy task, owing to the popularity of the object, Mr. Nye is also arranging for a special schools' matinee, at which a novel as well as an educational competition will be open to all the children present. .£ picture with some instructive value attached to it will be shown, and the children will be invited to write an essay upon it. Six prizes will be given, three for children under 11 .ware, and three for those above that age. This should appeal to the parents, as it will give the children a chance of displaving their quickness of conception. " i
