RIFLE SHOOTING.
To the Editor. Sir—ln yours of the 21st there appeared an account of matches fired between the Taranaki Guards and the Mangorei Rifle Club, the latter claiming to have won six out of eight matches fired. In looking through the names of the team representing the Mangorci Club in last Thursday's match J notice there are two well-known members of the Taranaki Rilles; thus it would appear the match resolved itself into Mangorci Club and Stratford Rilles versus Taranaki Guards. I fail to sec how a club can claim to have won matches or even ft match, when assisted by the best shols from another shooting unit. My opinion is that the match lircd last Thursday week between Taranaki Guards and Stratford Rifle Club can still be looked upon as a test for the supremacy of Taranaki, and was not premature as considered by the residents of Mangorci. Thanking you in anticipation. I am, etc.. STRATFORD SHOOTIST.
