RIFLE SHOOTING.

MAXGORET RIFLE CUD v. GUARDS. [ (From Our Own Con-espondeiit.) A rifle match was fired yesterday at ' Mjingorci between team representing the Taranaki Guards and the Mangorei'Rifle Club. The weather conditions were perfect, and excellent shooting was the order of the day. Some of the shoolists were unfortunate in having a bad light at lino yards owing to falling dusk. Mangorei won an exciting match by 24 points. It was mentioned last week that thy match between the Guards' and Stratford Rille Club was looked upon as a test for the supremacy of Taranaki. The residents of Mangorei thougjit this was a little premature, as first teams from the Guards and Mangorei have met during the last two years on no less than eight occasions, and Mangorei have I proved.vVlctorious six times out of the eighths the following record shows:—
