WOMEN'S SUFFRAGE.
VIGOROUS OPPOSITION. Received 20, 9.45 p.m. London, May 20, Lord Cromer, Lord Curzon and Lord lames of Hereford delivered vigorous speeches at the Men's League Conference, opposing women's suffrage. Sir Edward Clark, the Dean of Canterbury, Sir West Ridgeway, and Admiral Frecmantle were present. Lord Curzon declared that the bulk of married women did not favor the suffrage. The wives of the worker* were indifferent or hostile. It was impossible to enfranchise propertied women and refuse the vote to wives.
