A NEW YORK CASE.

CAPTAIN HAINES SENTENCED. New York, May 18. Captain l'eter Haines was sentenced indeterminately to from eight to sixteen years' imprisonment on a charge of manslaughter in the first degree. Accused shot and killed Mr. Wnt. Anniss, the owner and publisher of several magazines, while Annis was standing on the landing stage of the Yacht Cluli, intending to take bis wife and party for a eruit-e. Captain Haines alleged that iiis victim was responsible for the wrecking of his home.
