Auckland, Last Night, At a sitting of the Conciliation Council to-day, an agreement was arrived at, after considerable diseus'sion, in regard r to n dispute in the butchering trade, •The final points in dispute had reference to wages, preference to unionists and the half-holiday. A compromise wan arrived at in regard to the wages. After a protracted sitting an agreement iwas arrived at in regard to the other points. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to the Conciliation Commissioner (Mr Harle Giles), the representatives of each side stating that no .settlement would have been arrived at had it not been for .Mr. Giles' services. The Cuminii.nio.ier, in acknowledging the vote, stated that this was dim "toughest dispute" he had yet had to deal with.
