PARIHAKA ROAD BOARD.

(From Our Own Correspondent.)

The ordinary monthly meeting was held at Rahotu on Wednesday, 12th -May. Present: Messrs. J. Young, K. Warner, T. Harvey. G. Jones, A. E. i'hillips, and B. F. Bowman. The clerk read the result of the election. Mr. Young was returned (unopposed) for Oaoimi Ward, Mr. Phillips for Rahotu Ward, and Mr. Bowman for Opua Ward. Ca the motion of Mr. Phillips, seconded by Mr. Harvey, Mr. Young was reelected chairman of the Board. —Mr. Young thanked the members for their renewed confidence. The minutes' of the last meeting were read and confirmed.

Sympathy.—The Board passed a vo,e of sympathy with Mr. Dive, M.l\, over the death of his wife.

Posts.—Resolved, That ei charge of 10a per 100 be made lor all posts taken oil the roads.

Kina Road.—Resolved, That tin- <ontractor be given notice to push on with the contract.

Pound.—Tin. foreman was directed 11 see lliat no stock are put into the pound paddock except impounded stock. Arawhata Koad.—.Messrs. Wilson and Potter waited on the Hoard and asked i that 37 chains of metalling, to coinuvt two parts of good road, lie paid for. The settlers had requested the contractor to do it, as otherwise it would ham been a mudhole. The amount is .between £8 and £lo.—Resolved, That the amount be paid. Ruakere Road.—Mesrs' Revell and Wells (2) waited on the Board and asked for formation to be done, as they could not get down the road.—The road lias a credit of £l4—Resolved, on the motion of Messrs. Phillips and Warner, that £25 worth of work be done on the road. Optia Road—Air. Jlowman asked' what was to be done with the bridge at the creamery.—The clerk said the cost of a ferro-conerete top would cost £l4.—Hesolved, on the motion of .Messrs. Joues and Bowman, That, it be done as recommended.

I'arihaka Road. Mr. Harvev said settlers .were complaining about tile contractor not going on with the work, and the road was going back.—Resolved! on the motion of Messrs. Harvey and Warner. That Thomas be given notice to commence the work at once.

Mr. T. ,1. Smith waited on the Board and pointed out that the road was' on his section, owing to the wrong pegs being followed when the road was made. He wanted to fence, and would like the Board to adjust matters.—Resolved on the motion of Mr. Warner and the chairman, That Mr. Phillips and the foreman inspect the road and «cf pes located. °

Culvert.-].. Fischer wrote asking for a culvert to get access to section 23. Work 1. —Resolved, on the motion of the chairman and Mr. Warner. That the Board cannot accede to the request. Ringing.— F. Rowland applied to be appointed ranger on' roads below Ara■whnta road, as' cows were turned on to them— The clerk was instructed to see the man who is supposed to be the ranger, and if he docs not intend to attend to the work he be asked to resign. Kahui Road.-.101, AVilton wrote stating that ho had formed part of flic road to get to his section. The work was worth fill, and he wanted a remission of his rales i c;l J4s sd) as allowance. If the Hoard agreed to it he would give Co towards metalling it—Foreman to inspect and report. Kamvora Road.—The Reserves Agent wrote slating that he had instructed Messrs, Sladden a.id Palmer to mark the line for the road, and asked the Board to call lenders for the work.—Resolved, That as the settlors are agitating for different routes, the Hoard is of opinion that the road should be made to the nearest way to Opuuake.

C'ulvorl.~-Mr. Phillips drew attention to the state of the culvert at the junction of the Main ami Opourapa roads.— Resolved. That the foreman attend to It. Accounts—general £2OO, loan £lB2 were pass'cd for payment.
