SCHOOL COMMISSIONERS.
Tlic School Commissioners met yesterday. Present — Messrs. J aim's Wade (chairman), F. Simpson (Commissioner of Crown Lauds), C. E. .Major, and 11. Faull.
The secretary reported that there was a brisk enquiry tor the Board's unlet reserves. It was decided that Mr. Simpsun should revise the rentals, and that upon the completion of the revision the unlet reserves be re-Offered. The small unlettable sections will probably be withheld from the sale.
A report was received of the results of recent arbitrations for renewal anil conversion of leases.
The secretary, Mr. F. V. Corkill, reported having interviewed, the Secretary for Education in Wellington in reference to the Board's request for power to dispose of the very rough and very small reserves which it has been found impossible to lease. He found that the matter had been referred by the late Mr. Seddon to the Crown Law Draughtsman, who had advised that there was already power to do this. The Otago Board disposed of their useless lands last year.— A report on the sections referred to mill be furnished by the secretary at next meeting.
The ranger, Mr. G. A. Marehant, reported on town and country leaseholds, the report on most of them being favorable.
The following transfers were approved, subject to the necessary information being received and proving satisfactory:— X. 0. Glasgow to C. E. Hanson Allan, of Hamilton, section 13, block 1, Ngatimaru, 200 acres; M. A. Beale to F. A. G. Lee. part sections 500, etc., Xcw Plymouth; U. J. Willy to Theo. Willy, subsvetion 2, section 51, block ll,Ngaire; executrix of late D. Carroll to George Viekery, section 19, Opunakc; C. S. and S. Foster to G. S. Ferguson, section 5, Manganui. It was decided that all applications for transfers, etc., must be" in the hands of the secretary on the Monday prior to the.Board meeting, otherwise they would have to stand over till the following meeting.
The Commissioner of Crown Lands forwarded deeds to lie completed in the excliange of section 2, block 10, Upper Waitara, for section 1, block 11, Mahoe, 428 acres.
The treasurer's statement showed a balance of £333 0s Od.
Accounts amounting to £39 IDs lid were passed for payment.
