DISTRICT NEWS.
WAHEA. (From our uwn correspondent.) The Warea Defence RiJle Club held their annual lmll on 'Thursday last. Although the weather was wet during the day it cleared up towards the evening, and a large crowd gathered te« gether from different parts of the coast, At midnight an excellent supper, catered by Mr. May, of New Plymouth, was* handed round and very much appreciated. • Dancing was kept going until an early hour on Friday morning. The music was supplied by Miss Marie Francis, and Mr. T. K. Larking made an able M.C. The total door takings amounted to .Co Ha lid. The club intend holding another social hi aid of the funds shortly. The second competition for Mr. V. P. Robinson's tropin- (a biscuit barrel) was Jired for at the local range on Saturday, a good number competing. The ranges were 500 ami 1100 yards. At tlie northern end there are a few holes that are now axle deep and are very dangerous, and viilh the traffic and vain every day they are getting deeper and should be filled up.
