The match as stated before, was practically a test for the supremacy of Taranaki. and was one of the most exciting ever lived in the district. The (luards were* li points in the lead at 2IM) yards. Stratford CluD led by li points at ,">llO yards, and when the last two men went down to shoot at the 000 yards, Stratford were leading by 1 point. Private Bruce, however, beat liilleinau Sangster bv 7 points, thus winning tile match by 0 points. Tile match was one of the most sportsmanlike ever fired, the Stratford men giving every advice to their opponents and treating them right royally. The teams met for dinner at the close of the match, when speeches were made by Captain .Mackay and Mr. Sangster (Stratford) Lieutenant Boon responding for the Guards. GUARDS v. WAITARA RIFLES. A match was fired on the Waittira range between the Waitara liifies ,nd a second team of the Guards, resulting in an easy win for the Guards.
