The prosecution's witnesses lauded Azctf's services and fiercely denounced Lopukhin going over lo the camp of M. Plchve'ts murderers and as a traitor who destroyed the source* of information concerning the terrorists plans, contrary to established custom*. When Ijopukhhi endeavored to speak, the president of the Court continually interrupted him until accused was silenced. Lopukhin ended by stating that the Czar would eventually full a victim to AxeiV. "You may convict me," he said, '•but I acted in the interest of humanity."
