RAILWAY REQUIREMENTS.

At a conference of Chambers of 'JoriinK'i'ce, ut which there were delegates from Napier, Masterton, Carterton, Feilding, lianuevirke and Palmerston, tlie following resolutions were passed:—Tlrnt the Minister of Railways be urged to expedite the railway service between the East and West Coasts by arranging for a passenger train to leave Napier sufficiently early ill the morning to reach I'almerston North at, s'ay, 12.30, and so connect with the mail train to New Plymouth going north, and the Main Trunk express goi.ig south: a train to leave I'almerston North after tlie arrival of the Main Trunk express from Wellington and the New (Plymouth express from the north, to reach Napier on the same evening. This service might- take the place of the present service from Napier to Woodville, leaving Napier at (i.50 a.m.. and Woodville to Napier, arriving at JO p.lll. It was also resolved that the Minister be asked to attach a dining ear to the mail train from Napier to Wellington and vice versa, via Wairam pa; that the morning train leaving Woodville for Napier at (i a.m. leave Palinerston North instead, and tlie afternoon train from Napier, arriving at Woodville at 0.15 p.m.. gv. on to Paluierston North: that the north train now 1 leaving Masterton at 0.30 a.m. start from Fealhorston instead, and be timed
to reach I'almerston North to catch the New Plymouth mail, and the train leaviag .Masterton at S). 10 p.m. for Featherston be delayed so that passengers .>ll it who reach .Masterton by the 10 p.m. train Irom Palmerston may go on, or 111 the alternative, that the last-men-tioned train lie timed to arrive carlivr so to catch the i), 10 p.ni. Masterton to I'eatherslon train; that a connection be made to run to .Masterton and s'outh with the proposed enrlv train from Palinerston to Napier, and connection he made from Masterton at Woodville with tlie evening train to Palmerston North' that the Minister be asked to delay the tram leaving Daunevirke from 8 a.m. fo B.JO .1.111., and arrive at Palmerston as at present; also the train lea vino Palmers!™, 'at 5.1(1 JMn . b( , <h .| av ? (l lo reach Damievirke at 7.30 p.m.; that the Kailway Department give extension of tlie present tram service so that connection can be made from the north df Palmerston with tlie early and late through train service with Wellington and heilding. A deputation consisting of two members of the Chambers' representcd are to wait on the Minister at nn early date.
