A STABLE POSITION WANTED. Melbourne, May 11. Mr. Deakin and Mr, Cook conferred on the possibilities of a coalition against Mr. Fisher, Federal Premier. At the conclusion of the conference Mr. Deakin announced: "All J can say is the-situation is clearer after our talk." Speaking at the Lord .Mayor's banquet prior to the conference, Mr. UcAikin declared it was the duty of every man to endeavour to reduce the present unstable position in Federal politics. Stability required that there should be two parties only to give effect to the constitution. to organic and fairly establish two parties w.i- ilie great task before them at the present moment.
