TOTE BETTING. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Friday. Tn the Police Court William Wilson, Thomas Costello, Wm. Henry Chamberlain, and Frank Brown, laboring men, were charged witli having carried on tote-butting at the last Ellerslie races. All pleaded guilty, and each was fined £i and costs. ALLEGED TRAIN ROBBERY. Auckland, Friday. Thomas Fanning, charged with receiving, anil William Harris with the theft of a purse containing £4O, belonging to 11. L. .Tamos, a lady passenger on the night express from Auckland lo Wellington, were remanded to, Tauinarunui.
