About twenty members of the newlyformed Golf ciub gathered on the links nt Vogcltown on Saturday afternoon, when the first club games were played. Mr. A. H. Steeds arranged a mixed foursomes of experienced players, who negotiated the course, the beginners taking mental note. Others 'followed, and .play became general. Sir. Steeds entertained the members at afternoon tea at his residence opposite the links. In the police Court on Saturday, be- | fove Mr. W. liewley, J.P., Henry Fyncs Callaglian, charged with drunkenness and a breach of a .prohibition order, was remanded for a week for curative treatment.
