TARANAKI LAW SOCIETY.
AN'NTAL MEF.TINO. The annual meeting of the Taranaki District Law Society was held on Wednesday evening. Mr. T. C. (vicepresident) presided. The report presented and adapted stated that certain matters left in tliu hands of the council at the last annual meeting had not yet been completed and would he left over to the incoming council. They were fa) the preparation of a mode! scale of charges 'for conveyancing (this scale had been prepared and would be sent out to members for their per>ual and remarks at an early date): and lb) the amendment of the Society's rules, which work had not been completed. Some very substantial additions would shortly be made to the library. A sub-committee appointed by the council had revised the text books 1 and an order for new work* and later 1 editions of old works bad been sent to London. These books, whicli would i-ost about COO. >hould arrive shortly. Tii addition to these several other works, including the Consolidated KUtutes. had been procured. Willi the increase in the library the need of more mom was becoming very apparent. The balance-sheet showed a credit balance of £*2 B.") fis lOd. "Reference was made to the fact that the Societv had lost two of it* most energetic executive officers. Mr. Wiu. Kerr, now S.M. at Wanganui. and Mr. W. A. D. Banks, now Clerk of j the Court at Christchureh.
