More than usual interest was taken [ in-the election for the School Committee on Monday night, thirty householders being present, and no less than eleven ol that number were ladies. Air. Aaron .Marsh occupied the chair. The hon. secretary reau a statciue.it of receipt,; and expenditure, and submitted a balance-sheet duly audited. The outgoing chairman rcierred lo what had ticen done during the year in his report. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. The chairman then called for nominations lOr tlie new committee, and Messrs 11. S. Sampson, J. B. Marsh, J. R. Hill, 11. .Martin. J. W. Bishop, K. 11. Kenyon, L. A. Marsh, D. Bishop and W. The new committee met immediately after, and Mr. J. R. Hill was elected chairman and Mr. 10. 11. Kenyon secretary and treasurer. WAKEA. The meeting of householders was held in tjie schoolroom on -Monday night, only seven being present, Mr. G. P. Jones occupied.the chair. | ■ The annual report stated:— "The work of the school for the past year has gone on satisfactorily, the percentage of passes being considered good. During the year important repairs have been vll'eeted to the grounds and buildings. The annual picnic was held' again this year in line weather, a substantial credit balance resulting. An important innovation was the appointment, lor the first time in the history of the school, of an assistant teacher, .which should he much appreciated, but in order to ensure the permanency of the appointment it will be necessary to impress upon parents the importance of sending their children punctually and regularly to school, as unless this is done the status of the school will be reduced and the appointment revoked." The balance-sheet was read, showing receipts L 25 14s 2d, and the expenditure r.14 19s sd, leaving a credit balance of CHI 14s !)d. The picnic account showed receipts CHi 9s and expenditure ClO IDs 3d, leaving a balance of £5 18s !)d.

The balance-slieet and report were • a.dopted. The auditor's report stated the school books were well kept. The election of the committee resulted as follows:—Messrs. W. B. Clarke. 11. Pelhani, J. Burgess. W, H. Julian, C. 11. King, G. P. Jones, and T. Tobin, Mr. ti. P. Jones being re-elected chairman for the ensuing year, and Mr, C. li. King was re-elected secretary. The secretary was instructed to write to the Education Board asking it to supply a tank for the school as the well water is unfit for the children to drink. It was also decided to ask for a class room to be added to the school. The school is too small ior the attend- , ance, which is likely lo increase. The total number of scholars is 49, and there being an assistant teacher as well as a head teacher, a room 22ft by 22ft ] by lift is not large enough. „ RAHOTU.
