Th c Avondale and Manawatu Racing Clubs hold meetings to-day. Luininator ran a good race in the open hurdle race at Avondale on Saturday and carries top load in the Maiden Hurdles to-day. Old Paritutu was responsible for a good performance when he led Reservoir home in thc Hurdles at Avondale. Kept behind the field for three parts of the journey he only began to run through when the straight was readied. Reservoir led over the last fence and looked' a certain winner, but Paritutu finished very fast and just got up in time to score by less than a length. To Arai, the favorite, was a clos c third. "Jervey" Oorge's 3-year-old Maika, by Uhlan—St. Aida, had a runaway victory in the Chevalier. Handicap. Hopping out first, Maika made every poet a winning one, and led Norma home by a couple of lengths.

Waihuka ran an honest race in the Avondale Handicap, but his rider appeared to wait for Carinania to come back to him—which she didn't! Carmania was the pacemaker throughout, Waihuka lying three lengths away. At the home turn the pony still had a two lengths advantage and was going well. Waihuka' put in a strong run over the last quarter, but failed by a length to catch Carinania. First Gun came with a late run, and was only a head behind Waihuka, Sedition, who carried most money, being.fourth. Lady Frances can go four inrloiigs pretty fast. In the Oakley Handicap she led until inside the distance, but Foremost had too much pace for her in Hie fifth furlong. Durability was aniongril the "also ran" division, and was never prominent. Tlie aptly named Indian Chief (Soult —The Squaw), showed a good turn of speed in the Juvenile Handicap, coming from the ruck inside the distance, ami galloping over everything, he paid the biggest dividend of'the day. Het Volt ran modestly, that is to say, she did not pu-ih herself forward! There was something like a financial crisis in several parts of the North Inland when the result of the hurdle race came through on Saturday attenioon. Te Ami was the "picking up money" tip and it tipped out badly, being beaten at the turn for home.

After winning the Chevalier Handicap Foremost was pulled out again for the concluding event, the Railway Handicap, and 'was installed favorite.' llohungatahi was out on his own all the way and led Foremost past the winning post by a length and a-half in 1.15 2-3. Kairoina and Rangihaeta are pretty warm hack hurdlers engaged at Awiipuni. The pair met atTrenthani on Saturday when Kairoina presented his opponent with lOlbs and a beating. There is Olbs between them to-day,
