THE WELLINGTON HARBOR FATALITY. Bj Telegraph.— Press Association. Wellington, Friday. The mau drowned from the railway wliiii-f last night has been identified as John H.slop, a whan laborer, believed to have formerly been a resident of Dimedin. Wellington, Last Nignc. At an inquest on John Hi si op, wha'f laborer, who* fell into the harbor last, n.'ght and died later in the hospital, the lueilical evidence showed that deceased' suffered from the effects of immersion, j and alcoholism. Death was due to' water in the lungs interfering with breathing. A verdict was returned in accordance with the medical evidence. DROWNED IX A WELL. Dannevirke, Friday. Louis Brown, a single man, aged 32,' *vus drowned iu a well at Ormondvill' which hail just been completed. Deceas-' ed went down to clear some debrin float-1 ing on the surface, and was apparently J overcome by foul air, and fell into the water. The well was 97 feet deep. I SUDDEN DEATH.

Wellington, Last Xight. Ralph Emmerson, local manager for D. Benjamin and Co. at Dunedin, expired suddenly in the waiting room of Dr. Bwart'a residence. He had gone for a consultation regarding heart trouble. H e attended to business as usual this morning. Deceased was about 40 years" of age and leaves a widow and two childt ren. INJURED BY A TRAIN. Auckland, Last Xight. A woman named Mrs. Alilgren, a resir dent of Henderson, was found lying near the railway line early this morning with a broken arm and injuries to her head and body. Presumably she had' been struck by the train and thrown clear of the rails, but she is not able yet to give an account of the accident. Her condition is not regarded as serious, CRIPPLE VAGRANT'S DEATH. Palmerston X.. Last Xight. Charles Hood, a penniless, friendless and an asthmatic cripple, was sentenced ta three months' imprisonment in Wanganni gaol to-day on a charge of vagrancy. . On being conveyed to the station to catch the express, he collapsed on the platform, and was driven in a cab to a doctor's, where he died on arrival. Hood was 25 years old and hailed from Wellington.
