THE MIDHIRST FATALITY
Before Mr. C. V. Side, .1.1*., actingCoroner, an inipiest was held on Tuesday touching the death of Thurza Catherine Kellv. aged three years and three months, which occurred at Denbigh road on the 18th jnst, Mr. C P. Har!;ness was chosen as foreman of the jury. Dr. A. Dillon Carbcrry gave evidence as to death having been cause,! by shock due to burns. .lulm Patrick Power Kellv. father of the deceased, stated that on the evening in question he and his wife were in the milking shed, and that when Ib'v left the house no lights were burning (here. From what his daughter, ager six. had told him. it appeared that the boy. aged foil,- and, a ' half yeaiv, had managed to obtain possesion of some matches, and lighted the candle. As deceased ran pa>t the candle it set lire to her light muslin dress, after which, eluding her elder sister. „ho tried to put out the llames. the deceased ran screaming towards the shed. When witness reached the deceased all her clothing with the exceplioa of her stays and boots were burned oil !■, r. Dr. C-.u----'bery was summoned, hut ioi ids arrival he found the child in a moribund condi- , lion, and past the reach of aid. The jurv returned a verdict that dealh was caused bv shock due to !'i:.h-. ii-.i blame heimj attachable to anyone: and further expressed their sincere sympathy with diKiascd's parents in their -ad bereavelunl.— Post.
