FIRES.
A VKRKV BOAT BURNED. By Telegraph.-Presa Association. Dunodin, April 15. The ferry lioal Mntariki, recently huilt at Auckland, was burnt alongside the l'ortoliello wharf. Everything was all right, when the man who slept on hoard tiintt'il in at ten o'clock. Me was awakened three hours later and found the boat on lire. Attempts "were made to drag the blazing vessel into deep water and sink her, hut" the water was too shallow and she was burnt to (he water's edge. The Mntariki, which was a new boat,, cost .WOOD, niid was insured for CMW in the New Zealand office, who are reinsured in two other oll'ices.
