GOLF TOURNAMENT.

The Taraunki elisimpioiisJiip and handicap golf tournament, conducted by Ue Nguiuolu Golf Club upon its links ut New Plymouth, was brought Lo a close yesterday. Play extended over three days, and, with the exception of t'n lain on Saturday afternoon, the weather was good. -The course was in capital order, and several of the visitors slated thai betLer greens could not be found ill the Dominion. Players were present from Auckland, Masterton, Wanganui, Dannevirke, Uawera, Inglewood, Stratlonl, and New Plymouth. The meeting was excellently managed, and as successful as the three preceding tournaments. The Ngauiotu Golf Uu'», and particularly its executive and secretary (Mr. J. Pa ton) are to be complimented upon tlie arrangements made, and for the prompt manner in which tlie players' requirements were attended to. Tne Taraiiaki championship was won by G. Saunders iroiu his brother, J. Saundcrr. The semi-final was played between GSaunders and E. 11. Chettle, and J. Saunders aiid P. T. Upton. The final was won at the lUth hole.

On Saturday 28 players took part in the Medal Handicap. The following were the best ten scores;— W. Bewley, total score 72, handicap (14-0, net score tij 2-U. K. W. D. Robertson, 75—'J 2-o—os 5-0. F. G. Treweek, 77—10-07. llev. Evans, 81—13 2-0-07 4-0. A. Bewlev, 70-5 5-o—7o Mi. A. H. Glasgow, 77—5—72. T. S. Robertson, 82—10—72. For the foursome Bogey Handicap, on Monday morning, there was an entry of 10 competing pairs. Meek and ireweek tied with Miles and W. C. Weston for first place. The seven best scores were: — J. T. Teams Match—Nganiolu Club again won the teams match with 353, Uawera . being second with 308. At tlie conclusion of the luuirna.inent, Mr. A. SUmdish, the president ol the Ngamotu Club, thanked the visitdn« players for their attendance, and ■trusted that they had enjoyed their stay. The Club would be pleased to welcome them again to the tournament next year.
