Roy on the occasion of the birth of a son during ihis Mayoralty of New Plymouth. Bell at thu early age of 27 years. Deceased was a daughter of Mra. Dustow, who during the past year or so has lost tiwo "daughters, one son, and her hu»ban<K Great sympathy is felt for her and Mr. Bell, Mrs. MeKcnzie, widow of the late Mr. T. TJ. McKenzie, passed away on Friday at her residence, MTTtTon House, Feilding, aged 82 years. The deceased was born in Argylo, Scotland, and came to the colonies with her parents in 1840. She was married in 1842, and resided at Horowhenua from 1853 to .897. sines which time she lias been a resident of Feilding. Shu leaves seven sons and seven daughters, besides a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The death occurred at his residence, High-street, Roslyn, on Friday, of Mr. Allan Holinc-s. barrister, in his Goth year. Mr. I-iolines was a' member of the firm of Holmes and White, barristers and solicitors, and was for a number of years a prominent figure in golfing and cricketing circles. At a general meeting of the Otago and Southland Licensed Victuallers' Association the Rev. W. Thomson received a handsome presentation on the occasion of his leaving the association. Mr. Thomson lias definitely decided to go in for public life, and with that view will devote his time to the study of polities and public questions. One of the oldest settlers of Levin (Mr. Oliver Walton) passed away on •Thursday morning, from pleurisy and pneumonia, following influenza, Mr. AValton was 02 years of age. Lady Plunkct has been advised from London that a son has been born to her brother, Lord Frederick Temple Blackwood (fourth son of the first Marquis of Dufl'crin and Ava). The event is one 1 of some importance, as it is the first male child born on the male side of the Blackwood family. Lord Blackwood, D.5.0., is a captain in the oth Lancers.
