Received April 8, 11.50 p.m. Melbourne, April 8. < Two unattached engines, each carry- ,t ing three tons of eoal, backed into each t other at the Spencer Street station t with terrific force. Lumps of eoal and iron were thrown high in the air and ( into tlie calls of the engines, striking 't the drivers and firemen. Driver Morrait received severe injuries to his head, and is detained in hospital, while the driver of the other engine and the two •firemen Were slightly injured. Hot'h engines were badly smashed. THE liltAVJiliOOK DISASTER. RESULT OF DEPARTMENTAL 1 INQUIRY. Received April 8, 11.50 p.m. Meiaourne, April 8. The Departmental lioard inquiry into the Braybrook accident on April 20t.1i, 1008, found the engine-driver, Milburn, guilty on encil of the live charges, and driver Dolman, firenivn Toinlinson and Debenv, and guard Darcy not guilty. Stationmaster Kendall was found.guilty, with a recommendation to mercy. Miiburn and Kendall were dismissed the service, with the right, to appeal. The others will be reinstated.
