THE BUTTER SLUMP.
By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night,
The news of the butler slump i.i Loudon has occasioned some concern locally, and butter is down to an average, of 0.5-ld per lb, or roughly !)'/..d, while the outputs of many factories were purchased at the beginning of the season at .an average of 11'/, per lb. On this basis the loss is l : ;',d per lb., or roughly £l7 10- per ton. In addition to butter already on the market, there are heavy shipments afloat, perhaps the heaviest'that have been shipped from New Zealand at this time of the season since the industry started.
[The slump in England apparently strikes no responsive chord in New Zealand. Butter is still retailed at Is 2d per lb.]
