THE 'VARSITY BOAT RACE.
WON BY OXFORD. Received 4, 4.30 p.m. London, April 3. Oxford won the boat race by three lengths.
A DING-DONG RACE. Received April 5, 12.20 a.m. London, April 4. Cambridge, winning the toss, chose the Surrey side of the river, and at llarrod's soap-works had established a lead of half a length. Oxford came again, the boats shooting Hammersmith bridge on level terms. A neck-nnd-ncck 'struggle for five minutes followed, ending in Oxford establishing a lead of half a length. R. C. Bourne (Oxford) stroked a grand spurt at Barnes bridge and demonstrated that his crew were the better stayers, Cambridge being rowed out. D. ci. Stuart (Cambridge) stroked a plucky spurt, proving useless, however, to avert defeat. The time, was l'Jmiu. uOsec.
(If the (ill boat races between Oxford and Cambridge, the lormer has now won 3.5 times and'the latter 30. Last year Cambridge won by 2'/j lengths.
