SCIIUOL PUNISHMENT. Palmerston N., Last Night. Following a public enquiry into thei allegation against a teacher at the Col-; lege Street School, the committee tonight made the following recommendations for submission to the Education Board:—That any punishment exceeding four strokes of the strap bo given, by or in the presence, of the head teacher; that the oll'ence and punishment he, entered in the school log; that assistants, shall not be allowed to strap pupils unless in their class and unless such assistants have charge; that playground punishment only to consist of strapping or detention; that the imposition of pum ishmrait of a ridiculous character not to be allowed. .It was also resolved that the enquiry showed the management generally of the school to be practically all that was desired.
