In the presence of 150 people (including Lords Kaufiiily and Strathcona and Mr. Hall-Jones, leading iiierelianl.s, shipowners, banker.s and iinnncicrrO, Karl Crewe (Secretary of State for the Colonies) opened the Victorian cillices. In doing so he expressed the hope that the Commonwealth and other States would build on adjoining sites. He especially referred to the good management of the Victorian railways, and comI plimented Victoria upon its great prosperity.
THE IMPERIAL IDEA. AT LAST FINDINO EXPRESSION. Received 31, lb p.m. London, March 31. The Telegraph, in a column leader dealing with the opening of the Victorian Agency, suggests that .the Imperial ideal in at last trading expression in Lomkui architecture. The Commonwealth, New Zealand and South Africa must follow with ediliees as expressive of the greatest, factor in modern political life as were the mediaeval cathedrals.
